Marine Coatings

Mariners have fought the problem of organic marine growth on ship bottoms since ships first went to sea. Until about 20 years ago, hull paints made with tin were used to prevent fouling. With the discovery that tin damages marine ecosystems, coating manufactures turned to copper which also damages ecosystems. Through projects with the US Navy, our laboratory has developed proprietary technologies that are non-toxic and environmentally friendly. These provide the marine industry with a foul-release technology, while protecting the ecosystem. From commercial industry and aquaculture, to family watercraft and vehicles, we have the solution.

Product Description

Tritonguard™ is a two-part marine foul-release coating that provides a hydrophobic surface and reduces adhesion of common bio-fouling organisms. The coating is a unique formulation of siloxanes, and silanes that enable an ambient cure system. The coating is easy to apply by air spray equipment, or by brush and roller. The coating produces a smooth hydrophobic surface that sheds fresh water growth when the vessel is underway. The coating has a contact angle of 90-110 degrees with

good toughness and flexibility. Bonding to stainless steel, brass, and fiberglass requires the use of Tritonguard™ primer.
